Job Description
Position: Security System Engineer Location: St. Petersburg, FL (Hybrid – Mix of In-Office and Remote Work) with up to 40% travel.
Clearance Requirement: Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)
Position Overview: We are seeking a Security Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure enterprise network and system environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in networking, systems administration, and cybersecurity, with flexibility to support both Linux and Windows-based infrastructure. This position is based in St. Petersburg, Florida and offers a hybrid work schedule (part remote, part on-site).
Responsibilities: - Design, configure, and troubleshoot secure network infrastructures, including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Administer and support both Linux and Windows environments across enterprise infrastructure.
- Implement and manage Active Directory services including GPOs, DNS, and domain authentication.
- Deploy and maintain security platforms such as Forescout CounterACT.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure system compliance and secure operations.
- Participate in system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Document system configurations, network diagrams, and standard procedures.
Required Qualifications: - Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher (required).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and architecture (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments, including GPOs, DNS, and domain management.
- Proficiency in Linux systems administration (preferably RHEL or CentOS).
Preferred Qualification: - Networking: CCNA, CCNP, or Palo Alto certifications (e.g., PCNSA, PCNSE)
- Linux: RHCSA or CompTIA Linux
- Experience with VMware and virtualization technologies (e.g., vSphere, ESXi).
- Familiarity with virtualization best practices in secure or regulated environments.
Highly Desirable: - Experience with Forescout CounterACT.
- Experience working in DoD or other federal IT environments, with familiarity in security compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, STIGs).
