Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and oversee the accounting and financial operations within our organization. Based in Burbank, California, this role requires a strong leader who can manage and mentor a team while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies. The ideal candidate will excel at analyzing business performance, driving process improvements, and collaborating across departments to achieve organizational goals. Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely completion of end-of-period processes and performance analyses. - Develop and enforce risk management procedures while continuously updating them to align with business needs. - Build and mentor talent within the accounting team, fostering growth and readiness for future leadership roles. - Ensure consistency in financial policies and procedures across the department to support overall company objectives. - Collaborate with departmental leaders to guide financial activities and interpret the implications of financial outcomes. - Work closely with external partners, including auditors, tax experts, and financial institutions, to address auditing and taxation matters. - Lead documentation efforts for all financial records and prepare detailed reports on revenue processes and accounting matters. - Conduct financial analyses, prepare annual budgets, and oversee quarterly and annual audits to improve overall financial performance. - Implement and oversee systems improvements within the finance department, ensuring compliance with state tax requirements and accepted accounting principles. - Drive projects related to the implementation of new financial tools and systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Requirements - Extensive experience in financial management and accounting leadership roles. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. - Strong knowledge of retail wholesale, inventory reconciliation, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) operations. - Expertise in sales tax, cost of goods sold (COGS), and budgeting processes. - Proven ability to mentor and develop accounting personnel. - Experience with financial reporting and compliance with state tax regulations. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments and with external partners. - Demonstrated ability to recommend and implement process improvements that enhance financial performance.
